Hammy Slammies are delicious ham and swiss cheese sliders topped with butter and mustard, sprinkled with poppy seeds then baked. One is just the right size for an appetizer or a child-sized portion. For a full-on meal, serve 3 or 4 with french fries and a salad. Since there are just 2 of us, I assemble then freeze 1/2 for baking later.

Hammy Slammies

2 dozen Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls (such as King’s Hawaiian)
1 pound thin-sliced ham
24 slices Swiss cheese
¾ cup butter
2 teaspoons mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
2 teaspoons poppy seed

Slice rolls in half. Line bottom of two 9 x 13 foil freezer pans with the bottom half of 2 dozen rolls. Arrange half the ham over bottoms of rolls in pans, then layer cheese over top of ham. Repeat layers with remaining ham and cheese. Cover with roll tops and press down gently. In a small saucepan, combine butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and dried onion. Heat and stir until butter is melted. Pour sauce over top of rolls and then sprinkle with poppy seed. Cover tightly with foil or freezer pan lid. Label and freeze.

To serve: Thaw. Bake covered at 350° for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes until cheese is melted. 24 sliders.
